The story is quite simple, but the clever nonlinear script keeps the viewer engaged. You know you are seeing the same characters at different times in their lives, but how each part is related to the next is a slow unraveling that reveals layers of complexity in plot, character, and theme. The pace is decidedly unhurried, but my interest never lagged. Long establishing shots are used to great effect and give the film a redolent visual character. Acting is top-shelf and I never felt like I was being manipulated by false sentimentality. Altogether a lovely, touching film. Highly recommended.
