Excellent value. My previous Fellowes shredder lasted 13 years. The shredder switch, which was plastic, broke on the last one.The 8-sheet shredder is better, but this will do. Works best when I only put 3-4 sheets through at a time, though.I like the build quality, the functionality (less noisy as expected), but since its such a small shredder it should have handles on each side to easily move the unit around.Otherwise pleased.A bargainShredder didn’t come in it’s original package. It also had oil stains and finger prints on it. It seems to be having hard time when shredding 6-8 pages while it should be ok for 10 pages.. Slight burning motor odor coming from the shredder when I shred 6/8 pages. I might return it if doesn’t perform well in the next day. Disappointed that I didn’t get a brand new product especially when you pay prime thinking you are getting good one…If used continuously, there is a self imposed 40 min “time out” which can be Inconvienent.Otherwise quiet and efficient.Needed a shredder to replace my aging cheapo model. Was familiar with the SafeSense feature from work, and was happy to find this model at a reasonable price. SafeSense was an absolute must for me to increase the safety when youngsters visit. I got tired of unplugging the shredder when we had guests. This model has a large capacity, and seems to handle paper well. I normally shred 3-5 sheets at a time, so I was happy with the 10-sheet "design" capacity, it had no trouble. As other have mentioned, it has a head unit that lifts off, so it is a little top heavy. I would have liked the door and internal basket but from work I know that is more difficult to clean out and it's going to cost twice as much. So I'm OK with this design, would definitely buy it again (I actually bought three, tired of doing all the shredding for my kids!) I also have not tried bags in there yet, but it cleans up easily. While this model seemed noisier than I expected right out of the box, it seems to have settled down now and is tolerable. Planning to oil it regularly and that may quiet it down a bit.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, seems solidly build, and I expect it will last for a while.Needed a shredder for remote work and this fit the bill. As long as you don't intend to shred a ton of pages at once, this little machine is great. When I first received this, I had quite a large stack of documents saved for shredding and got a bit overzealous in feeding the pages into the shredder. I had to stop once, unplug and unclog a jam before I could keep going, but after another 100 or so pages, it overheated and shut down. I unplugged it to let it cool down. It was fine the next morning when I powered it up again and was able to finish. Since then, I've been able to stay caught up on my shredding and just do a handful of pages at a time. It works great for my purposes. As a bonus, I am able to use the shredded paper in my composter for my garden! So my previous Fellowes bit the dust (P70 CM 7 sheet cross shred) and I wanted something that was better than that one, which did the job but was noisy and had a metal basket which allowed dust to get everywhere and had to be bagged.I find the current Fellowes product line up to be confusing as there seems to be a number of products which occupy the same price and specification point. I kinda narrowed it down to 4 and then picked according to price.I have to say I am impressed with this shredder. It is fairly large, but not too large that it is cumbersome (I live in small 1 bed flat). It cuts up to 10 sheets and it is relatively quiet. It has an on/off switch as well as a forwards/backwards switch (I found turning my old one off at the wall, underneath the desk, annoying). I like the fact that it is a plastic bin with a window so that the paper dust is contained. It does not really accept bin liners like the old one did, but I just empty it straight into a recycling bag. Two bins of this fill a large London sized recycling bag. It seems robust and well made and does not sound like a malfunctioning lawn mower and I reckon it will do the job nicely. We bought one of theses and the box arrived beaten up but we figured it would be fine. We used it a lot on the first day then maybe 3 more times over the course of the next 3 weeks. Then randomly the orange sensor light came on and wouldn't turn off... it's a safety feature meaning the shredder won't work when the light is on (because it thinks your fingers are in the way). Nothing we did would make the light turn off so we couldn't use it and had to send it back. Amazon sent a replacement out the next day but this box also arrived damaged with the bottom completely open. And guess what? Within 2 days the same issue with the orange light occurred! So now it's s gone back again and we've asked for a refund this time. So much hassle and annoyance. We originally thought it was because the boxes were both damaged, but from the reviews I can see that other people have had this same issue. Clearly there is a fault with this product - or at least a batch of this product. A shame because when it did work, it worked very well. Needless to say we'll be going for another brand now! This is our second shredder. The new Powershred went for 30 - 40 minutes before stopping to cool down. Compare this with about 3 minutes for our older shredder.Supposed to wait 20 minutes to cool down, but we found 10 minutes was sufficient. We filled three really big bin liners in an hour with the Powershred. Compared to half of one of the same bin liners in four hours with our older machine. It won't work if your fingers get too close to the slot.We had no jams at all.Despite what other reviewers have said, with the window on the front one CAN see the extra large bin filling up with shreds. They probably did not wait long enough before emptying the bin. The window is at the top so one only sees the shreds when they get right to the top. Due to the size of the collector bin, extra large bin bags are recommended to allow the collecting bin to empty straight into the bin bag.We made sure to oil both our machines this time. Neither machine jammed on this occasion. Our older machine has some paper compacted in the middle so we have to fold documents in half to shred them.I gave no mark for 'Sheerness' because I don't know what it means in this context. To me it means either 'the measure of a slope' or 'the name of a town in Kent'.Money well spent for us.SafeSense..... this feature is only supposed to go off when your hand touches it. However the sensor is so sensitive even paper touching it turns it on. Can you guess what happens when you put paper in to shred? Yep thats right, SafeSense kicks in and the paper stops. Therefore I have a shredder that is basically allergic to paper.I have noticed the later models that have this feature also have a "SafeSense Override Button" so you can turn this off if it causes this issue. This shredder does not have this so it is a major problem and design flaw.Sending the first one back, if the second is also like it I will be requesting a refund.Sadly my old Fellowes shredder lasted 6 years then gave up the ghost! So I purchased a new Fellowes 60Cs which arrived the next day, after a week the sensor on the paper aperture came on and wouldn’t go of so it wouldn’t work! I phoned Amazon and they immediately gave me a full refund and the instructions for a free return. So I then ordered another new one which arrived the next day I tried 1 sheet of A4 and it worked fine. A week later it came up with the same fault as the previous one, I then noticed a sticker which said any problem contact Fellowes but the phone number doesn’t work! So I then emailed them and was told to register for Technical support at £35.00 per month and cancel when you like I explained I was not prepared to do that!! So contacted Amazon again and got another refund so will not be having another Fellowes!!!! Amazon have been excellent and very helpful 5 star treatment. But Fellowes absolutely rubbish never again don’t say you haven’t been warned. Tony
